How is Chhath festival celebrated?
- First day of Chhath Puja, Nahay Khay - On this day, the fasting people take a deep bath and eat vegetarian food. Especially, they take a dip in holy water in rivers and ponds.
- Second day, Kharna - On this day, the fasting people keep a fast and in the evening, they make jaggery kheer and offer it to Chhathi Maiya with fruits, flowers and betel leaves and then take the prasad.
- Third day, Sandhya Arghya - On this day, the fasting people make the prasad of the fast, Thekua, Khaja and decorate it with fruits, flowers and betel leaves in a daura and stand on the banks of a river or pond at sunset and offer prayer to the setting sun.
- Fourth day, Morning Arghya (Parana Day) - On this day, the fasting people offer prayer to the rising sun and then break the fast.
