Puja Vidhi: How to worship the snake god?
- On the day of Nag Panchami, take a bath in the morning and draw a picture of a snake or place an idol on the main door, place of worship or wall of the house.
- Worship the snake god with turmeric, rice, milk, kusha, flowers and durva.
- Anoint the snakes with raw milk.
- Chant the mantra “Om Namah Nagay”.
- Then all the members of the house should listen to the story of Nag Panchami and keep a fast.
- On this day, digging the land, cutting trees and plants and harming snakes is prohibited.
